A big thank you to everyone that supported GWAST First Response in Bath City Center on Sunday 21st Dec 2008. We collected £470.31 during the afternoon, Thanks to all the Responders who turned up to help with the collection, well done!

On 5th October The Peter De Wint Public House held a Charity Presentation evening to present money raised from their weekly quiz nights to local charities. The pictures shows Stephen Oglesby (East Midlands County Response Manager) accepting a cheque for £250 from Pete “Tiny” Best (Quiz Master and Charity Co-Ordinator) and Sean Morris (Landlord, The Peter De Wint Public House).

First Response Scotland

Support being sought from Dunblane, Bridge of Allan and Doune to act as ‘community first responders’, assisting the Scottish Ambulance Service.

GWAST First Response memners bag packing at Morrisons Supermarket.
Members of GWAST First Response had a successful day at Morrisons in Chippenham, £588 was raised at a static stand and by members bag packing on the tills.

Great Western First Response
Great Western First Response receiving cheque from the Joint Support Unit.

On the 9th May 2007 members from First Response were invited to the Joint Support Unit Corsham for a cheque presentation by the ladies of the Thrift shop.  The Thrift Shop is a  charity organisation which annually donates between £1000 - £1500 to local charities in a variety of denominations. This is the first year that First Response has received a donation from the Ladies.

RAF Marham First Response Annual 10km Great East Anglian Run

On Sunday the 6th May 2007 Kings Lynn streets came to a stand-still for a few hours during the morning whilst the Annual 10km Great East Anglian Run took place. With the weather being slightly overcast, ideal for runners, the masses moved into Kings Lynn to cheer and support the 1800 or so runners taking part in this annual event.

Our thanks go to Infant School on Fleet hampshire. The children raised a total of £3010.42 for First Response over the course of the year! Phill Abbiss is in the photo with some of the children who helped raise the money.

This week RAF Lyneham has been a buzz of green fluorescent uniform. Members of Avon Ambulance have been visiting RAF Lyneham to see the Hercules and get a bit of flying experience. Surprisingly being thrown around the back of a Hercules is almost the same as being thrown around the back of an ambulance!

East Midlands First Response Team  

On 17 September 2006 three Caterers, Flight Lieutenant Roy Brunning, Warrant Officer Richie Taylor and Corporal Mick Riddle from Royal Air Force Coningsby set themselves a challenge to cycle from Rockcliffe in Cumbria to Whitley Bay, Tyneside and then run the same route back in relay.

ROYAL AIR FORCE CONINGSBY RIDE-N-RUN COMPETITORS RAISE FUNDS FOR CHARITY
Another first for RAF Marham  

Another first took place for Marham First Response, last night 23rd October the team was involved in a rescue which took place at the top of Swaffham's Ecotech Centre Tower Windmill. It was primarily set-up to test the extraction skills of the Fire Service in the event of a fire occurring at the top of the tower. Marham First Response were asked to attend and treat a casualty at the top of the tower.

Wiltshire TEAM - Support  
Wiltshire Responder Manager Tim Ruscoe is presented with a cheque for £600 from Corporal Dan Frost, 21 Signals Regiment, Colerne.  Some of those who raised the funds have also volunteered themselves as Responders. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all those at Colerne who support First Response.

RAF COLTISHALL TEAM – THE FINAL SHIFT  

Another chapter in the modern history of RAF Coltishall came to an end on 30 September 2006 when the Coltishall First Response Team, call - sign 661, fulfilled their last emergency shift.

PRESENTATION OF EQUIPMENT TO RAF ODIHAM TEAM  

Air Marshal C R Loader OBE FRAeS RAF presents a pulse oximeter to Flight Lieutenant Andy Davidson, Officer Commanding Mechanical Transport Flight at RAF Odiham during a recent JFACHQ Exercise in Gloucestershire.  The item was purchased by donations from the staff of the JFACHQ during the Exercise and was accepted by Flight Lieutenant Davidson on behalf of the Team at RAF Odiham.

July 7th 2006 will see the official launch of RAF Brize Norton First Response in a further expansion of the charity which helps to save lives in Wiltshire.

The County’s third First Response Team will operate in Swindon and surrounding villages, significantly reducing the time patients need to wait for emergency treatment following a 999 call.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has established a partnership with the charity First Response to establish voluntary first responder programmes in Tayside and Perthshire. 

First responder schemes complement existing ambulance resources and create an early intervention while the ambulance is on its way. The Scottish Ambulance Service currently operates approximately 40 such schemes with volunteer groups all over Scotland.
